Eleventh Hour's kennel in Mount Olive, NJ.
The second floor of the kennel was a large open area with no way of keeping dogs contained.
There was no storage options. No shelving, closets, or drawers. Only a stainless steel utility sink.
Walls were framed out to make half of the upper floor into two decompression rooms.
I built barn style Dutch doors to keep the dogs contained but still allow the rooms to feel open.
Two generous size rooms with couches for the dogs to relax and get a feel for a home environment.
A place for storage without blocking the windows and natural light.
Plenty of room for donations!!!
36" wide cabinets with 4' wide adjustable shelves for more storage. The top 17 feet long!
Custom made cabinet to fit the odd sized space.
The utility sink is in the middle of the wall and there are no shelves or tables to put anything on to dry. I built this cabinet with 4 full extension drawers of various depths.
I even stuck some extra adjustable shelves on the exterior of the larger shelving unit.

We said goodbye 6/23/2024
This was such a bittersweet project for me to work on. At the time I agreed to begin building the rooms our sweet Sara had started showing signs of mental decline. In other words, she had canine dementia. I spent my extra time between my regularly scheduled work , building these rooms and being with Sara.
I finished this project on June 21, and we said goodbye to Sara on the 23rd in our home with the help of Lap Of Love.
We had an amazing 10 years with her. Barbara and I are grateful for all the adventures we took her on. She was loved and spoiled beyond words, and she knew it.
I miss her waiting in the van as I picked up materials at Lowes. I loved coming back to that sweet smiling face. She would recognize me walking towards the van and start to do her happy dance in her seat.
This photo is one of the last photos I took of her when she came with me for a ride to Lowes. I can see the difference in her eyes. She was slowly leaving us. This sweet gentle soul. Sara was so deserving of the life we gave her...full of love, treats, car rides and belly rubs. She had a warm, safe, loving home as all dogs (and cats should). 11th Hour Rescue saved Sara's life and we are forever grateful.
That is why this particular rescue group is so near and dear to Barbara Ann and I.
